🔥 The beloved "godfather" of your favorite musicians – Alice Cooper, Kiss, King Diamond, Peter Gabriel, Bruce Dickinson, Ian Gillan and many more, the "God of Hellfire" – Arthur Brown is coming to Sofia with his band The Crazy World of Arthur Brown for an unforgettable concert at Sofia's Mixtape 5 on September 20, 2026.
There are artists who have left their mark on music history, and there are those who changed the rules of the game. With the eternal classic "Fire" (selling over 1 million copies and certified gold), one of the most recognizable tracks in rock history, Arthur Brown established himself in the late 60s as a unique, innovative and extremely influential performer.
His theatricality, distinctive makeup, legendary flaming helmet and captivating stage presence paved the way for entire generations of musicians, exerting a profound influence on the world stage. Unsurprisingly, he is considered the father of shock rock, as well as one of the most significant figures in psychedelic and progressive rock.
Throughout his long career, Arthur Brown has shared the stage with legends such as Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors and The Mothers of Invention, and has also worked with artists such as Hawkwind, Klaus Schulze and Bruce Dickinson. Despite being over 80 years old, he continues to perform with inexhaustible energy, proving why he remains one of the most charismatic and influential figures in rock history – his performance at Desert Fest Berlin in 2024 was legendary.
The album The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown is widely considered one of the most significant forerunners of progressive rock and shock rock. It is a completely unpredictable musical journey that to this day remains a captivating and somewhat startling part of late 60s rock history.
Brown's songwriting is deeply infused with gothic horror, with mystical themes related to fire usually occupying an important place in his lyrics. As a vocalist, he is a mixture of eccentric R&B, crooner, sometimes simply a storyteller and occasionally a blues shaman. He is a specialist in proto-metal screams (which obviously influenced Ian Gillan of Deep Purple). Theatrical and irrepressible on stage, he wears helmets and robes (remind you of Peter Gabriel?) and is not afraid to set himself on fire in the name of his art.
